Custom size canvas print pricing for Shopify
In short: Trimsize lets customers order canvas prints at the exact size of their wall on Shopify. They enter the width and height, choose standard or premium canvas, add a frame, hanging wire or gallery wrap, and upload their photo; the price is your rate by area with a minimum, and Shopify charges exactly that at checkout.
What your customers get
- Any size, not just 8 × 10 and 16 × 20, or your popular sizes as presets with a Custom size choice.
- The canvas and finish as choices, with the frame, wrap and hanging hardware priced in.
- A resolution check on their photo for the size they ordered, so they know before paying whether a phone snap will hold up at 40 × 60 in.
- The price as they change the size, the same in the cart and at checkout.
Priced the way you quote
Canvas is priced by area with a minimum, since stretcher bars and handling cost the same on a small print. At $21.60 a square foot with a $35.00 minimum, a 24 × 36 in canvas (6 sq ft) is $129.60, and an 8 × 10 in is the $35.00 minimum. A frame priced per foot of edge grows with the print's perimeter, just like the moulding you use. See different prices for different sizes for why variants stop working here.
From order to the stretching table
The order line holds the size, canvas, wrap, frame and the name of the customer's file, which is saved to your store's Files. On Pro, send proofs for crop approval before printing, and print job tickets with the stretcher size on them.
Questions
Can I offer popular sizes and custom sizes together?
Yes. Show your popular sizes as presets in a list, priced like any other size, with a Custom size choice that opens the width and height fields.
Will customers know if their photo is too small?
Yes. When they upload, Trimsize checks the image's pixels against the size they ordered and warns them if it will print soft.
How do I price frames by size?
Make the frame an option priced per foot of edge, so it follows the print's perimeter, or a flat price if your frames come in set sizes.
