Cut-to-size sheet pricing for Shopify

In short: Trimsize lets timber and metal suppliers sell sheet cut to size on Shopify. Customers enter the width and height in millimetres and choose the board; Trimsize prices the area at your rate per square metre with a minimum per piece, adds edge banding around the perimeter, drilled holes and a sanded finish, and Shopify charges exactly that at checkout.

Priced the way you sell

Cut-to-size sheet is priced by area with a minimum per piece, then the finishing. In the starter, a 600 × 400 mm piece of 18 mm birch plywood is 0.24 m² at $48 per m², $11.52, so it pays the $20 minimum; edge banding all round adds $2.50 per metre, $5 for its 2 metres, and four drilled holes $3.20, for $28.20. A full 2440 × 1220 mm sheet of MDF at $22 per m² is $65.49.

Set your own boards, rates and minimums, and the largest size to your full sheet. The size limits stop a customer ordering a piece bigger than the sheet you cut it from.

From order to the panel saw

Each line says the size, the board and the finishing, so the cutting list matches what the customer paid for. On Pro, the production queue totals the area ordered in each board and can count the full sheets they need, and quotes as draft orders cover trade orders and long cutting lists.

Questions

Can customers order several pieces?

Each size is its own cart line, so a customer adds the product once per size, with the quantity of that size on the line.

Can I sell in inches?

Yes. Set the size unit to inches, with fractions to the eighth or sixteenth if your customers measure that way, and the rates per square foot.

Can I charge for each cut?

Yes. Add a cutting fee as a fixed add-on, or as a rule on the size, alongside the edge banding and holes.
