Name plaque and lettering pricing for Shopify

In short: Trimsize lets engravers and sign makers sell name plaques and lettered signs on Shopify. Customers type the words they want on the plaque, enter its width and height and choose the material; Trimsize prices the area at your rate with a minimum per plaque, adds the lettering per character or at a flat price, and the mounting, and Shopify charges exactly that at checkout. The words reach the order and the job ticket exactly as the customer typed them.

What your customers get

  • A box for their words, one line or several, with a character count when you set a longest length.
  • The price as they type: each letter adds its price, so "Dr Jane Smith" and "Riverside Cottage" each show their own total before checkout.
  • Material and size as a choice and two fields, each material at its own rate and minimum.
  • Only the questions that apply. The stand-off finish shows only once stand-off fixings are chosen, so nobody picks a colour for fixings they aren't buying.
  • Your words in their language on the product page, in the cart and at checkout, when your store publishes it and you translate them. The block's built-in words come in English and German.

Priced the way you sell

Plaques are priced by the plate, then the lettering. In the starter, an 8 × 2 in brass plate is under its $30 minimum, so it pays $30. "Dr Jane Smith" is 11 letters and "Consultant" 10, at $0.50 a letter: $10.50 more. Stand-off fixings add $18, colour-filled lettering 20% and rush 50%, for $105.30. A 12 × 4 in aluminium house sign reading "Riverside Cottage", with screw holes, is $20 + $8 + $5 = $33. Plates over 24 × 12 in add a handling fee.

Set your own rates and minimums per material, and choose how lettering is charged: per character, at one flat price, or free. Spaces are free unless you count them, and line breaks never count. A rule or formula can read the count too, so you can charge for long text in steps or set a minimum for the lettering alone.

From order to the engraver

The order line holds the size, the material, the fixings and the words, so the plaque you cut says what the customer paid for. Checkout counts the text again, prices it as the product page did, and refuses text that breaks your rules. On Pro, the production queue and job tickets show the text exactly as typed, with every other detail in your store's own words, even when the customer shopped in another language, and proofs let the customer approve the layout before you engrave. Trade and phone orders go out as quotes.

Every text box is limited to the characters you allow: any letters and symbols, or only letters, digits and simple punctuation for a cutter that can't do more. Emoji are never taken. See text add-ons for the settings.
