Pricing
How prices are calculated
Every step from size to the price at checkout.
The same calculation runs on the product page, in the editor's preview, in quotes and at checkout, so the shopper always pays the price they saw.
The steps
For each item, in this order:
- Base price
The formula, normally width × height × the material's rate, or length × the rate for a product priced by length. Trimsize converts between the size unit and the rate's unit.
- Minimum charge
If the base is below the material's minimum charge, the minimum is used.
- Add-on fees
Flat, per area, per length and per unit amounts are added.
- Add-on percentages
Each is applied in turn.
- Rules
Each rule whose condition holds applies to the price so far, in order.
- Rounding
To the cent.
- Quantity break
The largest break the cart quantity reaches takes its percentage off each item.
A worked example
A 24 × 36 in vinyl banner at $2.88 / sq ft with a $25.00 minimum, hemming at $0.30 / ft and 4 grommets at $0.50 each:
| Step | Amount |
|---|---|
| Base price: 6 sq ft × $2.88 | $17.28 |
| Minimum charge applied | + $7.72 |
| Hemming: 10 ft of edge × $0.30 | + $3.00 |
| Grommets × 4 | + $2.00 |
| Each | $30.00 |

Currency
Prices are in your shop's currency. With Shopify Markets, the product page shows your shop's currency, and checkout converts it to the shopper's currency at Shopify's rate.
Your catalog price
The variant's own price and compare-at price aren't used for configured products: the calculated price replaces them in the cart and at checkout. Keep a sensible catalog price anyway: it's what shows in places the Trimsize block doesn't reach, such as collection pages.
