Price tables

Price from your supplier's table by size band, pasted from a spreadsheet.

If your supplier sends you a table of prices by size, such as garage doors by width and height or blinds by width and drop, use a price table instead of a formula. You paste the table from a spreadsheet, and each size a shopper enters rounds up to the next size in the table: that cell is the price.

Setting it up

  1. Choose a price table

    In the product's pricing, set Price from to Price table, under Priced by. Or start from Home: Garage & roller doors and Blinds & curtains under Start from your trade's prices open the product with a price table ready to fill.

  2. Add your materials

    One for each table your supplier sends, such as each brand and finish, or each fabric group. Materials have no rate with a price table.

  3. Paste each material's prices

    On the Pricing tab, in the Price table section, choose the material and click Paste from a spreadsheet.

  4. Check and save

    Try a few sizes in the Live price preview, then save. Every price must be filled, and above 0, to save.

How sizes round up

Each size in the table is the largest size of its band. A shopper's size rounds up to the first band it fits in, and the price is the cell where the width band and the height band meet. With these widths and heights in millimetres:

Height \ width (mm)180021002400
2100$1,021.20$1,117.60$1,214.00
2200$1,079.90$1,176.30$1,272.70

a door 2000 mm wide and 2150 mm high rounds up to 2100 × 2200, so it costs $1,176.30. A door 1800 × 2100 is exactly on a band and costs $1,021.20. Sizes beyond the last band can't be ordered.

Pasting from Excel or Google Sheets

Select the table in your spreadsheet, including its sizes, copy it, and paste it into the Table box:

  • the widths along the first row, the heights down the first column, and the prices between them; the top-left cell can say anything;
  • a heading like 1501–1800 or Up to 1,800 reads as its band's largest size, 1800;
  • prices can be written 1021.20, $1,021.20 or 1.021,20;
  • for a product priced by length, the lengths in one row or column and the prices in the next; with only two lengths, add the headings Length and Price.

A price of 0 isn't accepted, on paste or on save: it would sell that size free. If your supplier marks a size they don't make with 0 or a dash, take that band out of the table, or enter its real price.

If something can't be read, the box says which row and column. The pasted sizes become the table's bands. Other materials keep their prices for the bands that stay, and get empty cells for new ones, so paste every material on the same sizes.

Changing prices and bands

Type in any cell to change one price, or paste the material again when your supplier's prices change. The Width bands and Height bands fields list the bands, smallest first; edit them to add or remove a band. Prices stay with their sizes, and a new band's cells are empty until you fill them. The table counts the prices filled, and a cell that isn't a price turns red.

Size limits

The largest size shoppers can enter can't be beyond the last band, so Trimsize sets each size limit to the last band when you change the bands, if it was higher. You can set a smaller maximum, and a minimum: sizes below the first band cost the first band's price.

Add-ons, rules and breaks

Everything else applies on top of the table's price, as with a formula: add-ons, pricing rules, the material's minimum charge and quantity breaks. Rules can also read the band a size rounds up to: Width band and Height band (or Length band). For example, wind-rated guides that cost $100 more on tall doors:

ConditionAction
Wind-rated guides is Yes, and Height band greater than 2400Add flat fee, $100

Limits

A product can have up to 600 prices across all its materials, and up to 30 bands each way: for example 4 materials of 4 heights × 7 widths is 112 prices. Shopify checks every custom-size item at checkout within a fixed budget, and these limits keep a full cart of them within it.

Back to a formula

Set Price from back to Formula. While you're still editing, switching back to Price table brings the table back. Each material then needs a rate.
