Pricing

Templates

Pricing several products share, changed in one place.

A template is pricing several products share. Change the template once, and every product using it is updated when you save.

Create a template

Go to Templates and click Create template. Start from a Blank template, or from a starter with Use:

Starters
ACM panel · Aluminium sign · Blinds & curtains · Canvas print · Fabric by the metre · Flooring & tiles · Garage & roller doors · Glass & acrylic · Magnetic sign · Mesh banner · Name plaque · Sheet cut to size · Stickers · Vinyl banner · Vinyl decal · Wallpaper · Window perforated vinyl · Yard sign

Garage & roller doors and Blinds & curtains are in millimetres and start from an empty price table: paste your supplier's prices before you save.

Fabric by the metre and Flooring & tiles are in metres. Fabric is cut to the next 10 cm. Flooring sells whole boxes of 2.2 m² for the room plus the waste its laying pattern needs: change 2.2 in its formula to your box size.

Wallpaper is in centimetres and sells whole rolls: the strips the wall needs, over the strips each 53 cm × 10.05 m roll gives once the pattern repeat is allowed for. Change 53 and 1005 in its formula to your roll size. Glass & acrylic is in inches, measured to the eighth (see Inch fractions). Sheet cut to size is in millimetres, for MDF, plywood and aluminium. Name plaque is in inches, with the words the customer types priced per letter (see Text add-ons).

Every other starter comes with example prices (the sign starters in inches), and every starter's add-ons have example prices. Set your own before you sell.

A template is edited in the same tabs as a product. See Pricing editor.

Add products

  • In the template, Add products on the Products tab opens Shopify's product picker. Save the template first.
  • On Products, Apply template puts a template on several products at once. Filters such as Shopify price and Stock help you find them.
  • Any product's pricing can become a template with Save as template.

If a product already has pricing, Trimsize asks before replacing it.

The Products tab

Every template has a Products tab next to its pricing tabs, listing the products that follow it (Products · N once it has some). On a new template the tab says to save first, with Save template; while a saved template has no products, it shows Add products to pick the products it should price. It is the Products page limited to this template: search, filters, sorts and 50 products per page. The columns are Product, Shopify price, Stock, Status, Vendor and Last configured.

Shopify price is the product's own price in Shopify ("from $X" when its variants differ), not the Trimsize price shoppers pay. Stock is the total across variants, or "—" when the product doesn't track inventory.

Tick products, or click Select all N matching, to Remove from template: those products keep their own copy of the pricing and stop following the template. Add products and any plan limit notes are under the table.

Leave a template

Remove from template (on the template's Products tab) or Detach to customize (on the product) lets a product keep its current pricing without following the template. You can then edit it on its own.

Status

The Templates list shows each template's status: All products updated, No products yet, or N not updated. Not updated means some products couldn't be updated when you last saved, so they still have the previous pricing. On the template's Products tab, each of those products shows Not updated and why. Save the template again to try again; right after a save, its warning also has a Retry button.

Delete a template

Deleting a template doesn't change its products' prices: they keep their current pricing, on their own.
