Pricing

Materials

The rate per area, minimum charge and stock for each material.

Every priced product needs at least one material. Shoppers choose one next to the size; the first in the list is the one they see selected. On the editor's Pricing tab, in the Materials section, click Add material.

Fields

Name
What shoppers see, in the cart and on orders, e.g. "ACM 3 mm". Up to 40 characters. Left empty, shoppers see the key with spaces (acm_3mm shows as "Acm 3mm").
Material key
An internal ID, such as aluminum, acrylic or pvc_foam: lowercase letters, numbers and underscores. It can't be changed after you create the material.
Rate and Rate per
The price per area: per sq in, sq ft, sq cm or m². It doesn't have to match the size unit: shoppers can enter inches while you price per sq ft, and Trimsize converts. On a product priced by length, the price per length: per in, ft, cm or mm. A product priced from a price table has no rates: each material has its own prices in the table.
Minimum charge
Optional. The lowest price for this material, whatever the size. It applies to the base price, before add-ons.
Waste (%)
Optional, for the production queue: offcuts and misprints on top of the ordered area (or length).
Description and Color
Optional, when the materials show as cards or swatches (Show materials as, under the list): a line on its card, up to 80 characters, and its swatch color.
Sheet width and Sheet height
Optional, for the production queue: the stock sheet the material is cut from, in the product's unit, so material totals can count sheets needed. Enter both or neither. Not for products priced by length, which total in feet (or their unit).

Example

NameRateMinimum chargeA 24 × 36 in banner
Vinyl 13 oz$2.88 / sq ft$25.006 sq ft × $2.88 = $17.28, so the minimum, $25.00
Mesh$3.60 / sq ft$30.006 sq ft × $3.60 = $21.60, so the minimum, $30.00

Order

Materials keep the order you add them in. The first is the shopper's default, and the "From" price on the product page uses the cheapest.

Renaming and deleting

Renaming a material stops carts that still hold the old name from checking out: shoppers have to add the item again. Rename between sales where you can.

You can't delete a material an add-on is limited to. Change those add-ons first; the editor tells you which.
